Deeper Shades

Deeper shades
hide the true meaning
forward we move on
forever leaning
never taking the time
to accept what's here
wrapped in ourselves
but never near
to the truth
hanging from the sky
so we destroy our bodies
so we can fly
but for what
I ask you why
it means not a thing
when you can defy
gravity
with a fixed wing
one must dig deep
to find the place
where the angel's keep
the feathers of a dove
locked deep
within a chest of love
maybe one day
we will open our eyes
to a plain
whereupon
a mountain lies
holding a lake
and a big surpise
fish for all
who want to eat
and for those lucky a few
a chance to meet
an enemy and a friend
a chance to exchange
looks and to mend
those breaks in the armour
that surrounds your soul
and crowns the hole
in your head and mind
a chance to find
that inner peace of zen
to be the idea
you've never been
to shake your brain
to its very core
an explosion of color
and you're wanting more
to take you away inside
the cloud that will hide
the glimpse of your day and
the reason you're alive.
