Heart Beats Still

With the tensile strength
of a tub of glue
And a catalog book
of all what's you
I smash through the madness
of yesterday
Until I calm a piece of happy
where we can play
The games played tomorrow
in a land of joy
All the hopes and happiness
that we employ
To lead and instruct
this girl and boy

Honor, respect,
and a questing voice
We want them centered,
to make their choice
On just what it is
that makes them tick
Never blindfolded
to the trick
Of complacency,
where the mind grows tired
Of entitlement,
where the angst is fired

Instead centered,
focused on what's inside
Being present,
for this joyous ride
In a life unique,
you are your own canoe
On the river of time,
configured for you
Make connections
to the ones that are in sync
Make time to be present,
try not to blink
For all that we miss
we will never know
It was our only time,
our only show
There is no practice,
in this life that we live
So much to receive,
so much to give

So take each moment
for what it is worth
Laugh every death,
and cry every birth
Remember those
that came before
And enable those
where hope endures
To give us a purpose
to give us a cause
To make us believers
to make our own laws
These are the reasons
to endure the strife
Of every day battles
protecting the life
That we were handed,
without our free will
Live it the fullest,
until your heart beats still.
